The Step-Up Sorority is the UK’s 1st sorority for Women of Colour, forming connections for under-represented young women at the start of their careers, helping to get them into the industry of their dreams after studying.
Essentially, a sisterhood for success.
Our mission is to secure employment for young WOC in the following ways:
01. DIRECT EMPLOYMENT
Provide internships
We work with industry partners to provide internships annually. These are announced at our Annual Summer Event where “little sisters” from the sorority are awarded places within a large company, to get their foot in the door.
02. REPRESENTATION
Encourage empowerment
Our aim is to continuously show young WOC other successful women that look like them, to encourage them to go after their dreams and be bold in taking steps toward the career they wish to have.
03. CONNECTION
Build a network
Through The Step-Up Sorority Mentoring Program and other events we connect young WOC with those already with careers in their chosen industry, so they can secure jobs through their SUS network.
We work with prominent industry partners to secure internships and opportunities for members of the sorority.
